The document compares the storage performance of Dell PowerEdge R750 and R740xd servers with mixed SAS and NVMe drives. In FIO benchmark tests, the R750 with Broadcom PCIe Gen4 RAID controller handled over 7.5 million more IOPS in random read workloads and maintained over twice the throughput in 1MB sequential read workloads compared to the R740xd with a Gen3 controller. The higher performance of the R750 could enable companies to handle more storage requests and throughput to better meet evolving demands.
