Patricia Sleeman’s Post

My old team in the University of London, data specialists, records managers, IT and archivists. We worked in the digital preservation research team as consultants and on projects for 15 years. We won projects and awards. I left UoL for my dream job working again with records managers and archivists and IT. It was the great unknown moving my family and moving country into UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency way of working. But the vision was clear, protecting memory, accountability, evidence and working together to ensure the right to be remembered over time. It was a chance of a lifetime to set up a service to preserve digital records with the team of experts. Winning the global digital preservation award in 2020 was a tribute to the 20 years of work in managing and selecting and protecting the digital record. We are a tiny team but we are mighty.
