Reputation-based protection
- [Instructor] In this section, we'll talk about reputation-based protection. Off the start menu, I'll type reputation, and I'll select the option for reputation-based protection. The purpose of this feature is to protect us from malicious or unwanted apps, files, and websites. We have several toggle buttons here where we can turn on or turn off whether or not the tool will check the reputation of various apps and files mostly when you're surfing the internet, and it's designed primarily to work with Microsoft Edge. As we scroll down a little near the bottom, we have the option to configure what happens when a potentially unwanted app is detected. Our only option is to block. So we can turn on or turn off blocking apps, and turn on or turn off blocking dangerous downloads. Previous versions of Windows had the option to warn instead of blocking, but now the only option is to block.
