Join data sources with inconsistent field names
In the previous movie, I showed you how to create relationships between tables that have common fields that have the same or very similar names. In this movie, I will show you how to create relationships between tables where the common fields have different names in each table. I have started Tableau, and on the start screen I'll go over to the connect panel and click Microsoft Excel. Then in the Chapter_02 folder of the Exercise Files collection, we'll double click KinetEco Different Names. So there's that, and I have my data source lined up and it contains three separate tables: customers, orders and products. I'll start by dragging orders over to the drag tables here area. So there that is. And next I will drag over customers. And Tableau has identified a relationship. So I have order type and order type. So that's good. And next I will drag over products.
