Defining the program board
- The program sponsor can't oversee the entire program on their own and therefore will need to have support from other roles in the form of a program board. This board will likely consist of senior managers who are accountable to the sponsoring group, and their key responsibilities are to develop, implement, and maintain the program strategy and approach. There's a number of essential core members of the program board. First, the sponsor or SRO, who's also a member of the sponsoring group. They are the key decision maker of the board and are supported by other board members. Another member is the program manager, who ensures that relevant information is fed into the appropriate governance boards for monitoring and decision making. Business change managers are an essential role on the program board. Typically, these would be senior level operational managers from the business areas where the change is being delivered.
