- A program without controls is a bit like a runaway car with no driver and brakes. Chances are you will struggle to deliver any significant change and it'll likely be over budget and time. It's important that there are adequate controls in place to make sure that the programs are delivering value within agreed objectives. Let's take a look at what you'll need to consider when setting up your program controls. First, when and where to include program gateway review points is essential. A gateway review provides an opportunity for the program and sponsoring group to review the progress of the program so far, the achievement of any benefits, lessons learned, any new information that may affect the program, as well as whether the remaining work is still worthwhile doing.
