On loyalty: Prioritize purpose more than the paycheck

- Over the generations loyalty, and the definition of loyalty when it comes to companies has changed because people prioritize different things. There were times where people prioritize the stability of a job, or doing better than your parents did, or working for a company that had a lot of prestige. For a lot of Gen Z, none of those things matter. They want to know how what they're doing ties into the bigger purpose, and so they may show up for the benefits and they may show up for the paycheck, but that's not going to keep them loyal. What keeps them loyal is understanding the why. Why are they doing what they're doing? Why is the company doing what it's doing, and how can you do it in a way that's collaborative, that feels like it's in alignment with their values? And so long gone are the days where people are staying 20, 30 years waiting for a pension, or waiting for, you know, retirement. They want to understand what the big picture is, how we're making an impact, and how their contributions can help move you in that direction. And so they will not be happy with just being a number, and feel like they can just be replaced. Again, focus on purpose, not the paycheck.
