Snapshot and cloning
- [Instructor] In this video we are going to cover virtual machine snapshots and cloning. All right, so snapshot preserve the state of the data of a virtual machine at a specific point in time. The state includes the virtual machine's power state. For example, powered-on, powered-off or suspended. The data includes all the files that make up the virtual machine. Now that definition is right from the vmware.com. A virtual machine snapshot is just an image of the state and the data of a virtual machine captured and stored at a given point in time. All right, so in order to explain it in a simple words, lets visualize it. So we have our virtual machine right here. Now this virtual machine, for example, has a directory and that directory name is Directory 1, or folder name, folder one. Now we take a snapshot of that virtual machine, for example on November 1st. Now as time passed, we are in the month of December and today…
