From the course: Framing Cloud Discussions for the C-Suite

Understanding the audience

- [Instructor] The cloud is incredibly important for all aspects of creating modern applications. You know it, your associates know it, but sometimes it's difficult to talk about the importance of the cloud and the role the cloud plays in running your company's applications to the leaders and decision makers in your company. Why is that the case? Why can't your manager, your VP, your CEO understand why you want to use a specific cloud data store? Why can't they understand that by using a simple infrastructure as code model, you can create entirely new dynamic production data centers anywhere in the world they want them. Don't they get it? Well, the truth is for the most part, no, they don't. They don't get it. Well, why don't they get it? They don't get it because you haven't explained it to them in a language that they understand. You have talked to them using your language. You need to talk to them in their language in order for them to understand what you need them to know. Not only that, the way you approach each executive needs to be different. How do you learn how to talk to your executive so they understand what you know to be true, that the cloud provides a valuable path to solving many of the company's application modernization issues.
