- [Instructor] Unlike other Office programs that immediately give you a blank document to get started in, Access starts with the options for creating a new database or opening up an existing file. On the first screen, we see the option to create a brand-new empty database, or you'll be able to select from some of these featured templates to get started with. The Northwind Database templates are example databases that Microsoft's partners in the Access developer community have created to show off what Access can do, and they're a great resource to dig into once you've got some experience with how Access works. We can also search a collection of online templates by clicking on this More link over here on the right. You'll use the search box or click on the suggested search terms to filter the results.
