Control input with masks
- [Instructor] Access databases give us lots of ways to control the input of data into our tables. This helps ensure that what's entered is typed correctly and often more importantly, consistently. For instance, if we take a look inside of the phone numbers table, the phone number data that I've typed in so far all has a hyphen between the different sections of the number. Now this is a valid way to put in a phone number, but other people might put in parentheses around the area codes instead. We can enforce a consistent way of putting this data into the database by using an input mask. To get to this property, we need to take this data table into design view. So we can either right click on the tab and get there that way, or you can right click on it in the navigation pane and go to design view here, or use the button up on the home tab of the ribbon.
