We’re proud to launch the Akiya Design Project, an initiative to restore vacant kominka homes in Japan, in partnership with the Japan Kominka Association and cultural icons Kiko Mizuhara and Rola. With over 9 million empty homes in Japan, this project blends design, sustainability, and local collaboration to preserve cultural heritage while inviting travelers to explore lesser-known destinations like Koga (Ibaraki) and Kameoka (Kyoto). Each home, styled by Kiko and Rola, tells a unique story of community, tradition, and renewal. Bookings open this fall.
