If you use multiple currencies in your HubSpot account, you can turn on automatic exchange rate updates for your currencies on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis.

Please note: if you're using the Currencies API, refer to the developer documentation for more information about related endpoints and how this setting affects integrations.

Understand automatic updates to exchange rates

If you've previously added multiple currencies to your account, exchange rates are not automatically updated by default. If you choose to leave the setting off, you'll need to manually update exchange rates for your account currencies. Below, learn more about what happens if you turn the automatic update setting on.

When you turn on automatic exchange rate updates, the following is expected:

  • When you first turn on the setting, existing supported currencies will automatically update to the exchange rate effective on the first day of the current month, quarter, or year, based on your selected frequency. If you added a currency after the first day of the current month/quarter/year, its exchange rate will not sync until the following month/quarter/year.
  • Your account's currencies will be updated according to the frequency selected, with the previous update date and next update date indicated.

  • Exchange rates will be synced within two to five business days of your selected frequency.
  • Automatic exchange rate updates are powered by Open Exchange Rates, HubSpot's third-party provider. Certain currencies will not be automatically updated if Open Exchange Rates does not have up-to-date exchange rate information for those currencies. Additionally, Open Exchange Rates may not support certain currencies. Unsupported currencies will be listed in the Currencies requiring manual updates section.

  • Refer to the Currencies API documentation to learn about related endpoints and how this setting may affect integrations.
  • When a deal moves to a closed stage with the automatic update setting turned on:
    • The deal's Exchange rate will be set based on the exchange rate in effect at the time of closing, which may differ from the exchange rate shown in the Currency settings.
    • If a deal's close date is on a date where the currency exchange rate did not exist in the settings, the exchange rate will be fetched based on the closest timestamp to the close date.
    • The Exchange rate values of closed deals will not be automatically updated moving forward, even if the exchange rates are automatically updated in the Currency settings. Super Admins can manually update the Exchange rate property on closed deals if needed.
