Updates to Next Activity and Last Activity Property Groups
edit 5/28/25 -- We have paused this change and will resubmit a notice at a later date
From May 27 to May 30, we will be rolling out an update to the Next Activity and Last Activity groups of properties to provide a more accurate reflection of sales activity. Next Activity Dates will now account for overdue tasks, potentially resulting in past dates for this property. Last Activity Dates will be refined to consider only completed tasks, ensuring the date accurately reflects the last completed activity.
What's Changing
Sales teams rely on Next Activity Date and Last Activity Date properties to manage prospect follow-up and for sales managers to coach representatives and oversee team outreach. Previously, these properties did not always accurately reflect scheduled or past activity.
This update affects the following properties on Contact, Company, Deal, and Ticket objects:
hs_notes_last_activity
notes_last_updated
hs_notes_next_activity
hs_notes_next_activity_type
notes_next_activity_date
Here’s how these properties will function after the update:
- Next Activity related properties (
hs_notes_next_activity
,notes_next_activity_date
,hs_notes_next_activity_type
):
- These properties consider scheduled activities, including meetings, emails, and tasks.
- They will now include scheduled tasks that are overdue and incomplete. This means the date value for
notes_next_activity_date
may display dates in the past. - Due to this change in logic, the values for
hs_notes_next_activity_type
andhs_notes_next_activity
may also change. For instance, if an upcoming email was previously identified as the next activity, an overdue scheduled meeting might now take precedence and be reflected as the next activity type.
- Last Activity related properties (
hs_notes_last_activity
,notes_last_updated
):
- These properties consider the same activities (meetings, emails, tasks, etc.).
- They will now only include tasks that are completed.
- Objects with a scheduled activity that is overdue (and incomplete) will not display a value in these Last Activity Date properties.
Please be aware that, as with any modification to existing property behavior, these changes to the Next Activity Date and Last Activity Date property groups can have downstream impacts on your reporting, workflows, and lists.
When is it happening?
These changes will begin rolling out on May 27 and continue through May 30.
